The Versatile Blogger

I have to thank my very dear friend Mel :) I know her personally, our boyfriends were roomates together in college, which is how we met. She is one of the sweetest people I know & she is recently married too. So make sure you go and check her out at Army Sweetheart.

Now for the "rules" of this award:

1. Thank and link back to the person who gave you the award
2. Answer 10 questions
3. Pass it along to blogs you've recently discovered and enjoy
4. Leave your recipients a note, telling them about the award

The 10 Questions...

1. Why did you create this blog?
Well actually I didn't create this per se', my best friend had made one for herself and I was interested in it so I had her make me one, now I'm pretty good at it though. I initially made it to talk about my days and to vent my frustration out. Now its where I like to still talk about my days, but so much more. I have met some wonderful fellow bloggers on here.

2. What kinds of blogs do you follow?
All sorts, a lot of milspouses/girlfriends and just ones about life in general

3. Favorite make-up brand?
Im cheap lol, so therefore Cover Girl. But I lovee Sephora and Bare Minerals when I have the money

4. Favorite clothing brand?
I shop at Wet Seal, A LOT! But I'm starting to expand my horizons, started shopping at Express not to long ago (when I can afford it), but basically I'll buy stuff from anywhere as long as I like and especially if it is a good deal.

5. Indispensable makeup product?
Definitly eyeliner and mascara. I wear them everyday faithfully

6. Favorite Color?
Pink & Black. It's an obsession

7. Favorite perfume?
Fancy by Jessica Simpson and Juicy Couture

8. Favorite film?
Jerry Maguire, as random as it is. I have seen that movie a million times probably but yet I watch it everytime its on tv & still cry. hahaha!

9. What country would you like to visit and why?
I'm dying to go to Italy. Would love to go to Europe & Paris. Also, Africa. I would love to go there and help one day. But other than that, Bora Bora or Tahiti! Basically any place tropical.

10. Would you rather forget to put mascara on one eye or forget blush on one side of your face?
Definitely blush..

I'm passing this award on to...

In My Mother's Eyes

So, I come home from work tonight to a dark and messy house. Boyfriend is already upstairs passed out, but my house was a wreck. His clothes were thrown on the floor, along with his jacket. The coffee table was covered in beer bottles and a pizza and the trash were left on the stove, along with dishes in the sink. As I started to clean up, I realized I am slowly starting to lead the life my mother leads, not that it's bad, but she comes home every night (when she works nights) and cleans up after my father. Part of me couldn't help but laugh because I never once thought that would be me, but here I am, cleaning up after my love on late nights just like my mother.

On a lighter note, I haven't carried a purse in about two months and I don't really know why. But I really need to fill mine back up with all my junk because I don't like not having my little "luggage bag" of all my stuff whenever I need it. So that is my goal for tomorrow, to dig them out of hiding and fill her up! But I am off to bed, which also makes me laugh because I lead such an exciting life nowadays. I went from going out with my "gang" a couple nights a week, to cleaning up after people & going to bed at 10:30 on a Friday night. Oh the lifeee! I know your all jealous! HAHA!

Night guys!! :)

Friday Fill-In-The-Blank

1. If my house was on fire and I could only grab 3 things I would grab...obviously my laptop & phone, my school stuff (because as much as I hate it, its expensiveee) and my dog of course. Im sure I would try and take as much as I could though..

2. A smell I really like is...bread being baked, apple cinnamon candles, really yummy food & clean laundry.

3. Something you might not know about me is...I am actually very handy & crafty. I love to scrapbook when I have the time. I can also put together almost anything, and build stuff as well.
4. Some of my favorite websites to putter about on are...so many. I can spend hours on here and not even realize it.
5. This weekend I will..be working & studying because I have a huge test next week. Hopefully making it out to a show with the babes & just lounging around watching movies with him & making some delicious food :)
6. Nothing makes me happier than...spending time with my babe, because although we live together we don't see each other that often. & also sleeping in because I have to get up so early throughout the week, I look forward to sleeping in, if I don't have to work of course.
7. A bad habit I have is...keeping stuff I really don't need. Although I am getting better :)

Blizzard Bloghop

Blizzard Bloghop 2010 hosted by Household 6 Diva

Hello Ladies! If you don't already know me, I'm Lauren. My blog is called Killer Words from A Queen. I am a 23 soon to be 24 year old. I currently attend The Ohio State University as a full-time student. I feel like I have been in school forever, which I have technically. I recently picked up my life from good ol' Akron to move to Columbus with my love. He got a big kid job which is what moved us down here. But after him already being gone for 4 months for training at Fort Leonard Wood, we decided to move in together & I would finish school down here. Best decision I ever made. We have been together for almost 14 months, which was a record for him, haha. But we have known each other WAY longer & in all reality started to date before our legit anniversary. I will share our story soon, its a good one. So be sure to come back and check it out ;)

Boyfriend is a soldier in the United States Army part-time & works full-time at an enovironmental services company. Our story is cute & crazy, which I have yet to blog about. He is my absolute best friend & I think this is the happiest I have ever been. Of course I miss my friends and family, but I am finally starting to settle in down here.

I had dark hair :)
I love the color pink. I wear the color black more than anything else, and I dont really know why. I love to take pictures. I enjoy exercising, but right now its way to cold to be outside. I have a Chihuahua whose name is Chi Chi. I love to bake & cook. I secretly want my own cooking show one day. I love to blog and ideally try to everyday, but it doesn't always happen like that.

Oh and I found this Blizzard Bloghop at Household 6 Diva

Laundry of Champions

So I ever so kindly asked the boyfriend to get the clothes out of the dryer and put the clothes that were in the washer into the dryer. I also clearly said to fold them if he wasn't going to put them away. I don't ask him to do this often so I thought he might actually do it. Well I came home from work Monday night and the dryer was running. My first thought was, "Oh, he actually did it". As I was in the kitchen doing something, we had mentioned that I not open the door to the washer and dryer until he went to work the next morning. At that point I knew something was up, so of course I immediately go and open the doors to the washer and dryer. This is what I saw,

Of course! He took the clothes out of the dryer, but failed to fold them for me. I honestly expected him to do this, so all I could do was laugh. And of course, all he does is smile at me. This is my life...lol

Stylish Blogger Award

I received an award today. I think this is my 2nd one, but I didn't know what to do with the first one. I am slowly learning, lol. But Jodie from Bursting at the Seams gave this award to me. I'm glad someone actually reads my blog, haha! So thankkk you!!

The rules:
1. Thank the person who gave you the award.
2. Write seven things about yourself.
3. Pass on to seven other bloggers.
4. Tell the seven awardees of their award!

Now, 7 things about me:

1. I own and wear my Carhartt everyday. Even if it matches nothing I have on. Its probably the warmest coat ever! The babe got it for me this past Christmas. It was probably the best present I got only because its the most pratical present and it gets worn everyday.

2. I am terrified of spiders! Well bugs in general, but mainly spiders. Even though they are so small, they still scare me. I will make my boyfriend drop whatever he is doing and kill it. I did the same with my parents, they came into my room to kill spiders so many times while I was there.

3. I hate being cold. Even though I grew up in Ohio, as much as I am used to it, I still hate it. Especially on days when I have to be at school and walk around on campus all morning long. I can't wait to live somewhere down south or even west where there is minimal snow...

4. I love football! The Steelers are my team, have been since I was little (before anyone assumes jumping on the bandwagon here). We are going to the superbowl again. I see the magic number 7 coming very very soon.

5. I am afraid of heights, but yet I love rollercoasters. I went ziplining last summer in Missouri and I thought for sure I wasn't gonna come out alive.

6. My entire family and all of my friends are all back home

7. I love to get dressed up, even though I rarely do it anymore. I  have an obsession with heels & boots. If I had the money, I would own so many pairs of shoes. My next investment will be some Reebok Easy Tones though, so I can get my booty looking good.

Military Girlfriends/Spouses

So I ran across this video that Jeanna on The longer the waiting, the sweeter the kiss posted on her blog and I couldn't help but share it, not only on my blog, but on my facebook as well. Military girlfriends tend to get overlooked at times, but this video is wonderful and I think every girlfriend/wife should get to see it so they know that we are appreciated out there. So without further ado, here is the link to video because I don't know how to put the actual video on here.

Click here if your a girlfriend/spouse of a Military man!

I really don't have enough words to explain it, because its just that good. So watch it :)

And, I promise I'm working on getting rid of the Christmas banner, haha!

Military Monday on a Tuesday!

Ran across this on another blog I follow. Thought I would give it a try. But I have somewhat exciting news,  there is only a 40/60 chance that Babe will get deployed now!! So I'm pretty excited, might have him around a little longer now!

& yesss, I know I am doing this on a Tuesday! Had to work all day yesterday. lol

Update to the Deployment News!

Deployment: Still no word on if he is actually going yet. But we kind of discussed what would happen if he does. I would stay here in Columbus while he is off fighting those bad guys in Afghanistan. Just me and my pups! Which, I'm not gonna lie, it's gonna be crappy. Being so close but so far from my family and friends back home. But its not worth packing everything back up and moving back home & switching schools and what not again. Its just too much of a pain to have to do it all over again. But Josh read my blog, which he has book marked on his phone - he's a little creeper, haha! And he goes, "Why wouldn't I keep paying rent every month, this is our home. It will just be a really expensive storage space every month". I couldn't help but laugh at him. I guess thats one less thing I have to worry about.

School: I hateeee it! Especially this stupid math class I have to take, again. It really is just basic algebra, but I took that stuff like 2 years ago. I really don't remember any of it, mainly because I hate math and hardly ever use it. But I literally did math homework ALL day today! And the sad part is, it was only like 20 questions. I actually broke down and took pictures of the problems I got stuck on and texted Josh's stepdad because he is a math genius! I told him he had to come down to our house once a week so I could get math lessons from him, lol. And I still don't know how to do the problems but I have the right answers. Its just a lose lose with math. 8 more weeks to go, I'm just praying I get a passing grade at this point.

Lifeee: I apparently got a crack in my windshield driving back to Columbus last weekend somehow. Well it started off small & fixable. But because I had to drive to school and work for almost a week before I could even call my insurance about it, it became hugee!! What started out as a little crack turned into a crack going across my entire windshield!! I don't know how it even happened, even Josh said it wasn't normal! But I got that fixed today. Had to get an entire new windshield and now I can't drive my car for 24 hours. I tried to get out of going to class tomorrow because I had a valid reason, but it didn't work. I have to wake up wayyy early and drive Josh to work and take his car for the day & then go pick him back up from work. Isn't horrible though because I like the people at his job, so I like to visit!! :)

Hopefully I have an interview tomorrow too! The lady called me back today and my phone didn't tell me I had a missed call or even a voicemail until 830pm & she called me at like 1030am. But I am going to call her first thing in the morning and hopefully everything works out. Its at Nationwide Childrens Hospital, only working the gift shop. But I think it would be great, because I don't want to work too much because of school but if I am already in the hospital system it will be much easier to get a job in my career if I ever finish school or even to transfer to another department eventually. But I don't know, I need all the good lucks I can get for this one! I hope it is making more money too. Being a pharmacy technician isn't a bad job at all, but we do wayyy more work then what I actually get paid for. I'm not complaining though because it is a job, I would just like to be making more along the lines of what I was making back home, because right now I am just barely making it by every month with my bills, no extras! And I am dying herrreee! This is the longest I have ever went without tanning or getting my nails done. It's just not like me to not do both, I am seriously going through withdraws (don't laugh)!!!

Well, I got an early morning, so goodnight everyoneee!!!

Thursday Rants

So I have been officially moved to Columbus for about a month now. I absolutely love it! Well my townhouse and the fact that I get to go to sleep with my love & wake up with my love everyday, well most days lol. And my boyfriend being so amazing, surprised me one day and drove all the way to Akron & back to pick up my dog & be home before I got home from work. So I have my puppy with me, who isn't really a puppy because he is almost 6, but still.

Even though Josh and I live together now, we barely see each other. I go to school in the mornings Monday-Friday which means I have to work nights & weekends, which I hate even more. And he works from like 7am to usually 5pm, sometimes longer, Monday-Friday. And plus there are weekends when he has drill and/or is out of town for work. So when I work at night, its usually 930 when I get home from work and then its bed time because we both get up about 530am, usually. And I always have the weekends off when he won't be home and work the weekends he will be home. Typical huh? So needless to say we don't see each other often & it sucks. I want to say I miss him but we live in the same house, lol. So I guess I can say I miss all the time we used to have with each other. He really is my best friend!

I still don't really know anyone down here. I obviously talk to the people I work with, but I doubt it will ever be to the point where it is friends outside of work. There just, different. Haha, that was mean. And school is school. It's huge and overwhelming, I don't know if I like it still. It has only been 2 weeks, well 2 weeks tomorrow anways. Only 8 more to go this quarter. I seriously just want to be done. I am losing patience with it all. Whyy must they make getting a degree so hard & costly? On a better note though, I had to take one of those self assessment tests to see what my interest are, as far as a career goes and what I am actually going to school for was number 3 on my list. So I guess thats a good sign....

Deployment, Ready or Not

So, Josh had drill this past weekend. Nothing new, except the fact that I am talking to him on the phone while driving home from work. Someone from his "unit" beeped in, so he said he would call me back. About 20 minutes later, he called back. Only to tell me that it wasn't anyone from his unit, but a friend of his based out of another unit in Columbus, the Unit that will be deploying for Afghanistan in August that Josh has been trying so hard to get on. Apparently, the Chemical Battalion guy got deemed medically unable to deploy so they have to fill his spot. Of course, the first person they call is my boyfriend because thats what he does, just with a different Unit.

He would leave in August of 2011. Go to training, I forget where, for a month & then deploy to Afghanistan. He would be home in September of 2012. I am by no means mad at him for this. I knew this was coming, I signed up for this. I don't have a problem with it, actually. I mean I don't want him to leave and to especially go over there and fight in a war. But it is something he wants to do, so I am going to stand by him 100%.

My only concern is this...We both just basically picked up our lives and moved away from everyone we know. His for his job that he loves and me, to be with him & go to OSU. What will happen when he deploys? Am I supposed to pack my stuff up and move back to Akron for the year he is gone? Do I stay down here alone? While the love of my life is fighting a war on the other side of the world? And if I stay down here, how am I going to afford to pay for rent and everything?? What do I do about school then if I go back home, transfer back to Akron?? And my job too? Do I have to find another job back in Akron? Its just so much to take in...

It isn't a definite that he is going yet, but the odds are really in his favor this time. If he does get picked up for this deployment, he should get orders sometime at the end of February or March. Then he will be gone for the whole month of April for training I'm assuming and then for one week in June. So 7 months until he would deploy in August. 7 months is not a long time, as much as I want it to be. I knew he would get deployed, it was just a matter of time. But I didn't think it would be until next year sometime, meaning 2012.

Only time will tell now though.

Christmas 2010

Our Christmas was fabulous!! Didn't want the weekend to end cuz that meant coming back to Columbus & leaving all of our family and friends. We got lots of presents and we got to spend lots of time with the people we love! I couldn't have asked for a better holiday weekend.
